Botched Liposuction is More Common Than You Think…

I had botched Liposuction surgery in 2018 and revision liposuction in early 2019. Yes, I said revision. It just really didn’t work the first time. I wish I could say I have a really happy experience with my lipo but in all honesty, it sucked.

Here’s the thing, lipo has this big stigma that only obese people get it and really that’s not the case at all. The majority of lipo patients have areas of stubborn fat that don’t go away with diet and exercise. I wanted to be more shapely and be able to see muscle definition.

I don’t really know how to explain all of it in a blog post so I created a video explaining my experience. It wasn’t perfect and I’m not happy with some of the results BUT if I can help anyone else make a more informed decision as to whether lipo is a good fit for them, then good!

A few things I wish I did differently:

  1. Interview surgeons and ask for patient testimonials. Ask for LOTS of pictures. Also, ask about the aftercare garments and see if you can try them on before the surgery to ensure they fit comfortably around your bone structure.
  2. Don’t try to rush going back to work. Give yourself at least a week to recover!
  3. Take before measurements at home. Weigh yourself, measure each area with a measuring tape, and take pics in your favorite clothes. Mix it up with dresses, sports bras, bathing suits. Just take a lot of pics!
  4. Don’t expect perfection. When you suck out fat, the skin needs to catch up and many lipo techniques don’t do anything to tighten it. Ask your surgeon what they suggest- there are laser therapies you can do after lipo that will help. Or the new J Plasma technique that literally suctions your skin to your muscle as it sucks out the fat!
  5. Don’t be frugal with your aftercare. Yes, lipo is expensive but proper healing is so crucial! Get the laser treatments, the lymphatic massages, and give yourself grace. Also, buy some larger pants. You will be SWOLLEN!

If you are considering lipo, or you have an experience you’d like to share please do so in the comments section below! I’d love to hear!

  1. Wow Lauren!!!! First off, thank you so much for sharing your Liposuction journey with us all. I am so sorry that it turned out the way it did for you. I totally understood everything you were saying and the pictures really bring it home. You’re such a beautiful woman and soul and I just hate this happened to you.
I know I have mentioned to you that I go to “Meridian plastic surgery“ here in Mississippi. I have never had Lipo before but I have had 2/breast augmentation‘s and a tummy tuck after the birth of my two babies. They did not do any of my surgery… I had those done in San Diego. I just go now for my facials, Hydro facials, Botox, Juvederm and I have had the “ Diva” done as well for the vaginal area. ????Sorry.. Not trying to give you TMI, just letting you know why I follow you and that you help me so much with my skin care all the time. You are a warrior because those pictures look beyond painful. I have never I had a catheter before and that sounds super painful as well. I’m glad you at least got back some of the money but I know that does not make up for all the pain, discomfort and lack of results that you were hoping for.
You’re the best and I appreciate you sooo much!!!! Thanks again for sharing!!

    1. Aw Sandy! Thank you for your comment. I appreciate you SO MUCH and I’m glad you have had positive plastic surgery experiences! Thank you for always supporting me!

  2. Thank you for sharing your journey. I am now dealing with botched liposuction as well. I’m so devastated with my resume, the lost in the money I invested on a procedure that I thought would give me a shape and just the distrust I have on the industry. I felt so medically violated. In a sense where I trusted this surgeon with my body and I was left deformed. I cry when I see my results. I wish I wish I would have seen this before my journey. I truely feel I wouldn’t be in the place I am now If I had this info.
