The Best Neutral Eyeshadow Palette and How To Use It

I am not an adventurous eyeshadow person. I like my neutrals and that’s it. Which is why finding the perfect eyeshadow palette was a struggle for me- most of them are either too big or have a random blue, purple, pink, or red (…why?? who uses these colors??). So, when I found this palette years ago I was so excited! This is the best eyeshadow palette is only $20 and has every color you could want for an everyday or glam look.

How to use each color

I always start with a fluffy brush and the light matte colors on my entire eyelid up to my brow. I have darker eyelids that tend to get oily so this helps lighten them and prevents the shadow from creasing. *If your shadow always creases no matter what, try THIS PRODUCT and blend it with THIS BRUSH.

Most days I’l also apply a light shimmer to my entire eyelid (but I stay below the crease- I never carry it all the way up to my brow). You can use the same fluffy brush for this step unless you want a very shimmery look. If that’s the case use a more dense brush to ensure the glitter really gets packed on.

When creating a more natural glam look I like to use the medium matte colors in my crease and the outer half of my eyelid. Blend going towards the middle of your eyelid and a little over the crease otherwise the color gets lost in the crease and no one will see it. I like to use a more dense brush when creating a crease. These colors will need more pigment & the denser brush helps apply faster.

When I want to be more glam, I grab the darker shades and shimmers and focus on the same crease area as the last step. *Start slow. It’s easier to add more makeup than it is to remove it. If you do mess up with the darker shades, grab the light matte colors and the first fluffy brush and blend, blend, blend. You can use the same brush as the last step for this. If you find that the darker shades stay on the brush you can buy another or I love to use THIS to wipe the brush off between shades. It’s also very important to wash your makeup brushes regularly. HERE are the top products I use for that.

Last, use the darkest brown color as your eyeliner with THIS BRUSH. This is the easiest most foolproof way to apply eyeliner. I like how the powder falls between your lashes a bit so it makes them look more full. It’s also VERY forgiving if you mess up. Just grab another eyeshadow color and blend it away. I particularly like this brush when creating a wing. It’s so defined that you can literally just stamp the color on your outer eye. For more wing tips check out THIS blog post.
